Most fairy tales begin with “Once upon a time.” Ours doesn’t.
But if it did, it might start with Judith at six, stepping into wet concrete at her family home while “inspecting” an extension. The footprints faded, but the impression stayed. She fell in love with architecture before she even knew the word. Years later, Judith began her studies at the faculty of Architecture, Delft University of Technology.
Around that same time, Sandra was busy rearranging the furniture in her childhood bedroom and quietly collecting objects from around the house, much to her mother’s dismay… Early signs of a path that would lead her to study interior architecture and furniture design at Konstfack in Stockholm. That journey eventually brought Sandra to a castle garden in Luxembourg.
This is where we met. PetersPetersson came much later.
Years passed. We worked together in different ways, on and off, until it became clear that it made sense to stop pretending this was accidental. We decided to properly join hands and start a studio. And then came the harder part: figuring out what the studio was actually for. Why do this at all? And what should come out of it?
After a few years of thinking (and rethinking), the answer turned out to be fairly simple. PetersPetersson is at its core about happiness. Not in a loud, forced way. Just happiness as a guiding principle – for clients, for the people working with us, and for ourselves.
With Swedish and Dutch roots, we naturally lean towards simplicity, clarity, and function, balanced with a bit of boldness and a lot of warmth. What started in a castle garden grew into a series of projects we’re genuinely proud of: an award-winning fashion boutique, the renovation and rebranding of an apart-hotel, spatial brand guidelines for not only a global access solutions company, but also for Rockhal, Luxembourg’s flagship music venue. For us, design comes down to attention and intention – noticing what a space needs, and shaping it so it works better for the people using it.
We design architecture and interiors by starting with the people. Who they are, what matters to them, and how they move through their days. Curious by default and careful by choice, we take time to listen before shaping ideas into clear, practical solutions. We value honest materials, good collaboration, thoughtful craft, and sustainable choices wherever possible. So yes – we work green, baby.
With happiness as our guiding principle, we believe joy belongs in everyday environments. Even the most ordinary spaces can become something more. Our aim is to elevate the everyday – turning grey into colour, ordinary into expression, and spaces into reflections of who we might still become.
