Where our story began

Where our story began, in a way
One of the first projects Judith and I worked on together was the design and renovation of Yileste’s flagship store in Luxembourg City.
We had first met a few years earlier in a castle courtyard in Luxembourg one autumn. Judith was a young architect working in the country. I had just graduated as an interior architect in Stockholm and had arrived for my first internship. During those first months I also fell in love — which brought me back to Luxembourg a year later. Eventually I started my own design studio. I was young — a bit naïve and slightly reckless. That comes with youth.
When the opportunity to work on Yileste came along, Judith and I were both running our own small firms and had young children at home. What followed was about a year of intense work — long days, late evenings, and many decisions along the way.
When the store finally opened its doors, we had delivered a beautiful concept store. The project later received the 1st place in the Commerce Design Luxembourg Award in 2017. At the time, it simply felt like a project — and a story — we were proud to be part of.
Only later did we realise how important that project had been for us. It was the first time Judith and I truly discovered how well we worked together. Our ways of thinking and designing complemented each other. We challenged each other’s ideas and pushed them a little further.
It took us another six years to realise we should build something together. But the foundation had already been laid during the Yileste project — even if we didn’t know it then.
